The gray cat

The gray cat,
as a stray cat,
is moving along those lonely roads.

The night caressing her hide,
Silently tip-toeing out of sight,
Vanishes into the dark.

Übersetzung:
Die graue Katze,
Eine Streunerin,
Bewegt sich die einsamen Strassen entlang.

Lautlos schleicht sie ausser Sicht,
verschmilzt mit der Dunkelheit,
während die Nacht ihr Fell liebkost.

Mungomaki

Der Mungomaki mäkelt meistens,
Mag der Mango süsses Mark
Mauschelt munter in Mangroven,
Schläft am liebsten auch am Tag.

Translation:
The mongoose lemur often moans,
Savours saccharine mango marrow,
Potters about in the mangrove tangle
Awakens when the darkness falls.

(alternative ending, substitute the last two lines with these four).
Conducts its funny business dealings
In mangrove forest labyrinths
Its preferred bed-time, one might guess,
Are daylight hours, or anytime, in excess.
They gray cat became a gift to my mum. She has it on her wall to this day <3

And the lemur video that was going around at least 14 years ago. But this suggests that the poem was written quite some time before I ever saw the video. Beware, the audio and video quality are awful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcKwexirzcM
